Summary: Many recent commentators agree that young people need the opportunity to discuss the issues relating to integration and cohesion. Both the report of the Commission for Integration and Cohesion, and Sir Keith Ajegbo's Curriculum Review of Diversity and Citizenship, stress the importance of citizenship education for future national stability. There is also a new duty on schools to promote community cohesion. The wider post-16 sector should also provide similar opportunities for its young people.
