Choosing an angle: citizenship through video-making

Video provides a powerful, creative and motivating tool for citizenship, both in collecting evidence and to express ideas to a variety of audiences. This session provides hands-on activities to explore how we can exploit video for citizenship learning by supporting learners in using video for learner voice activities and active citizenship campaign-style videos. The video technology available, and learners' familiarity with it, suggests we can be more flexible in the way we use it to support learning and it can be particularly useful in motivating disengaged learners. Drawing on experience in the sector and media specialists, delegates will gain insights and material to help explore citizenship through video further with staff and learners in their own institutions.

Making tomorrow work: building skills through citizenship learning

Let Citizenship help you do your work! This event will show how to use citizenship as a vehicle by which learners can be motivated to achieve the basic/key skills, foster skills of innovation, develop personal, learning and thinking skills (PLTs), investigate their vocational area, give young people true ownership of learning, increase their confidence and raise their aspirations.
